Our Little Reader

Haddyn absolutely LOVES reading...she loves to read and be read to. We have read books to her since she was barely old enough to sit up. She may have not understood much back then, but she has developed this fascination with books and really, what better activity to be fascinated with?

So, we were at Scott's parents for Thanksgiving, which is where Scott is currently living, and his Mom got these new books of farm stories where there is a little ducky you have to find on each page. Haddyn LOVED them! She carried one or both around with her all weekend and when there wasn't anyone offering to read it to her, she was on the floor babbling to herself and turning pages. It was so cute. We were amazed how well she picked up finding that little ducky too--kids are so amazing! I swear you really get more retarded the older and more shut off you get. : ) Anyway, here she is soakin' it all in... (she misses her daddy, can you tell??)

We generally have a book or two in the car so when we're driving around she can read them if she wants to...so this is when she does one of my favorite little Haddyn traits--we'll be driving down the road and she'll just be babbling away reading the book and all of a sudden totally crack up. She throws her head back and laughs. It's hilarious!! I love it!! Unfortunately, since I'm driving down the road as this happens, I have no pics of her doing it, but believe me...it's really funny.

Notice the crossed feet...that's how you know she's getting serious about getting comfy!
Here she is bummin' a read off Grampa...

I need to find out how you let her know that you're done reading books without getting put on the bad list. She does not like it when I slow down, let alone putting the book away! I mean seriously Haddyn, I can only take so much of the Barn Yard Dance!

I love it! Morgan did the same thing when she was about that age. That's all we needed to bring with us was books and she was happy. And she would babble away like she was reading it as well...it's so cute because they think they're actually saying something. Baby Roy hasn't had quite the fascination with books. He is starting to like them a little which is a lovely break from having him climb all over EVERYTHING!! Is Haddyn a climber? Morgan never was...it's a pain. Anyhow...we'd love to meet Haddyn one of these days. I can't believe we've never seen her. Some day...
